I recently moved to Washington state from Texas about 6 months ago now. Right before leaving Texas, I started taking less work and became very picky with projects. I had several reasons.
I was at the time, located 1-2 hours from most shoot locations. Pay on indie films and photoshoots, honestly was not covering the cost of travel. I also was having a decline on my health.
Three weeks are receiving RAI treatment for my cancer, I drove to Dallas, from Central Texas to work a fashion show. Yes, 3 weeks after treatment. I felt sick, nausea and it was a long day. I did a brilliant job everyone was happy! I meet people who I ended up working with again over and over. I placed on the superwoman cap and the show went on.
My cancer triggered another ataxia. I suffer from episodic ataxia 2, and now I suffer from low calcium as well. This causes a whole lot of mess within my body.
Now, although I never came out publicly until now on my MUA site, those whom worked with me and those very close to me, knew I had medical issues, but never treated me differently. And I know a few photographers I worked with had NO clue what was going on medically with me. I wore the superhero cap well.
So not to bore you with all those details, but to bring you up to speed. My condition is getting worse. I have taken off the superhero cap and retired it for now.
I am no longer for hire for shoots, fashion shows, films etc. I will be more than happy to bring my experiences to the consultation room. I will be more than happy to bring forth my knowledge I have learn. The what to do and what not to do. Even as an MUA I have made mistakes, but I have had also amazing results.
So that is my offer. I bow my head. But heck if you want to learn how to do some really cool stuff! Let me know!
